Hungry Bear Diner and Ice Cream

This little diner packs a very LARGE punch when it comes to food and service. The Hungry Bear diner sits on Main Street (SR 300) just outside of Gibsonburg, Ohio, home to White Star Park.

When we came through the doors of this little eatery we were pleasantly greeted by Heather, our waitress. Right from the start we felt at home in this home town favorite. Like other diners in small towns the locals come here for great food and friendly banter. What you don't expect is the chef/owner to visit with you while you enjoy your food. Holy, the chef/owner, is one of the creators of the food along with Heather. Together they dream up concoctions that will warm your heart and fill your tummy. And with a hungry "Golden Bears" football team you have to be at the ready for after the game hungry fans.

I decided to try the Big Bear scramble and see if it was as delicious as it looked. I was not disappointed. Two fluffy biscuits sit on the bottom of a pile of scrambled eggs, home fried potatoes, home made sausage gravy and melted cheese. I added two eggs on top of mine for character. It was a taste explosion! The only downside of this superb meal is, well, I could only eat a quarter of it.

My husband on the other had ordered the three egg omelet with mushrooms, onions, cheese, sausage with a side of toast and hashbrowns. Once he saw my sausage gravy he ordered a little for himself. Again.....TASTE EXPLOSION!! The omelets are overflowing with tasty morsels of perfectly cooked ingredients.

The atmosphere is that of a hometown diner, friendly and inviting. The wait staff, Heather and the

cook/owner greet you and talk to you and make you feel like you are in your own home. Even though this little diner only has seven tables and a counter, it's big on heart and home cooked goodness.

If you are at the game or the park don't forget to stop at this diner on the way. They serve giant banana splits and a sundae that feeds a group of four. Don't worry, they are open all year around so you can get breakfast, lunch, dinner and Ice cream all in one place.

On a scale from 1 - OMG we have to go back....we would rate this off the charts. Bon Appetit'!
