Schmucker's Restaurant
What a beautiful day to travel to Toledo, Ohio to spend time with our son and his girl. The sun was shining and the smell of spring was in the air. The first thing that comes to mind when I think of going to Toledo is the Mighty Mud Hens. The second thing I think of is "Where are we going to eat today?" Well, we didn't choose the diner today, rather our son did. And we have to admit...it was an excellent choice. When we pulled into the parking lot we noticed the establishment was very
small. And what I mean by "VERY SMALL" is you could park about three cars in the diner, small. Even though it was tiny there was plenty of room for family groups or intimate dining for two. There were five booths and five tables not to mention seats at the counter. The chef prepared your meal directly in front of you so you could see all the goodness going into your meal. Oh, yeah....you want to hear about the food.
Since we dined with our son and his girl we often order the same things. Today the hubby and Claire, ordered the western omelet. As you can see this delectable delight was overflowing with so many great flavors. Grilled onions, ham, peppers and potatoes and topped with pepper jack cheese. It was a marriage made in heaven. Don't forget the toast with "Smuckers" jelly. Delish!
Our son, Dillon, loves to try different things and today he ordered the pancakes and eggs. Can you see how light and fluffy those pancakes are? It's like eating a cloud. Those two little eggs were perfectly cooked to his specifications and two sausages links to compliment his meal. M M M....what a treat.
I had the daily special, Comfy Chicken. OMG! That about sums up the flavors. This concoction was an explosion of flavors. Two fluffy biscuits smothered in, THE best, sausage gravy I have ever had, two perfectly cooked chicken tenders (crunchy on the outside and juicy tender on the inside.) Top it off with two over medium eggs and I was dancing on cloud nine! My tastebuds were happy.
Our recommendation is...If you travel to Toledo to watch a Mud Hens game, sight see or just have breakfast, Schmucker's Restaurant is one place you have to visit for a down home in their hometown kind of breakfast. The waitresses and patrons are very sweet and want you to have a great dining experience. So if you are happy with your service, don't forget to tip your wait staff.
