Uncle John's Pancake House

When you think of breakfast what's the first thing that comes to mind? Eggs, bacon, french toast, pancakes? All of the above? Well if you have a big family you'll want to make all of it because everyone's tastes are different. Or you can go to John's Pancake House on Secor road in Toledo Ohio where they make everything.

The atmosphere is very eclectic with photos of movie stars on the walls and a sculling boat hanging from the ceiling. But if you want friendly service, this isn't the place. From the moment we walked in the door

we were met with a very rude waitress. All through our meal we never got a smile except at the very end of our meal. Drinks were set on the table with a shove and the table wasn't even cleaned. But, I digress. On to the food.

Our son and his girlfriend met us for his birthday breakfast so we'll start with him. He had the

Ortega omelette. It consisted of sausage, andouille sauce, pepper jack cheese, jalapeno peppers wrapped in an egg blanket. When asked how the omelet tasted he replied, "It was tasteless. Nothing to write home about." It looked delicious but apparently the taste was lacking.

Our little Claire had scrambled eggs, hash browns and toast. There was no flavor to the eggs at all even though they looked great. And the potatoes, well, there potatoes. Tender on the inside and lightly browned on the out.

The hubby, in his norm, of course ordered the Meat and Cheese omelet. Inside the fluffy egg

blanket was spicy sausage, ribeye steak, ham and bacon and Wisconsin Cheddar cheese. He also got a side of Hash browns. Now, one would think that with all those meats mingling inside this omelet would be bursting with flavor?? Not so much. Everything had a bland taste to it.

I on the other hand loved what I ordered. I love Eggs Benedict and they had it. However, I've never had a fruit with it. Let's start with the muffin. It was lightly toasted, it was topped with thinly sliced ham, two eggs poached to perfection and topped with a very good hollandaise sauce. On the side we're two generous portions of yellow cling peaches (my favorite) and I added a side of John's potatoes. The potatoes where cooked with peppers and cheese and were very flavorful.

So as you can see from this writer's point of view, not everything is bad and not everything is good. So that's why we tell our readers to go and eat and make your own opinions. Wether it be a good or bad experience, let them know so they can correct the issue or bask in the praises. And don't forget to tip your wait staff accordingly. Bon Appetit!!
