Granny's Kitchen
When we decide on a place to eat on Sunday mornings, we always look at the reviews first before
we make our choice. When searching for a diner yesterday afternoon, I came across Granny's Kitchen. In the feed there are reviews, photos, hours of operation, etc., where you can find everything you need to make your own judgment call about weather to eat at that establishment or not. WEEEELLLL!!!! Let me tell you...We certainly made the right decision about Granny's.
This quaint little diner sits on SR 20 just inside the city limits of Woodville, OH on the north end. The atmosphere is inviting, homey and plenty of seating for 65 people with 16 tables. If you don't want a table you can sit at the counter on the two stools and talk with the General Manager who runs pretty much everything, except cooking.
When we walked in we noticed some of the local gentlemen sitting in the back chatting while enjoying there morning coffee. The wait staff/general manager ( We'll call him GM for short) was busy serving coffee and smiles to everyone while taking orders for the cook.
We sat off to the side in a separate room at a table that was quite cozy for two people. However, I don't think the heat kicked on much while we were there. It was a little chilly but the hot coffee made up for it, ten fold. GM handed us menus and took our drink order and shuffled off to another task as most wait staff does. More locals come in the door and were waited on quickly as well. I have to hand it to him. He manages to do everything and gives a pleasant smile to boot.
Ok ok....on to the food!
My husband ordered the Grill Cleaner Omelet.
As you can see, it's busting at the seams with ham, taters, green peppers, onion and cheese. This is not your run of the mill, wimpy omelet. All the ingredients were cooked on the grill to a nice crunch on the outside and tender on the inside consistency and pipin' hot to boot.
I, on the other hand, love corned beef hash. I know, I know.....Geesh, she had that last week. Sorry, I am a creature of habit. But let me tell ya a secret...Not all Corned Beef Hash is created equal. Just like Goldie Locks...There's some that is too greasy, some that is too dry and some that is just right. THIS...This right here....was just right! Steamin' hot with melted cheese on the inside and outside, crunchy and tender, flavors of the corned beef with the taters...you can't go wrong.
Forget about the waitstaff coming by to ask you how everything is...(don't get me wrong, GM did ask us twice how our meal was) we just couldn't respond because we were gorging ourselves on the wonderful food set in front of us. But that's ok. GM speaks with hand motions and nods as well. He's an all around man who can read his customers. The food is so good you'll have to talk with your hands because you won't have time to do anything else but chew, swallow and repeat.
If you are looking for a nice little diner that serves up friendly conversation, great food (Compliments to chef) and a wonderful smiling staff, you can't go wrong with Granny's. Just make sure you slow down going through town...you don't want to miss out on this great diner.
Feel free to email us on this site and let us know your experience. We'd love to hear from you.
Bon Appetit' my friends!!
