Rayz Cafe

When my husband suggested Rayz Cafe in Genoa, he was a little skeptical. We read the reviews like we do every other place we go and he stated he wasn't to sure about Rayz. It took going there to change our minds.

Rayz Cafe, which is also a liquor establishment, is located in the heart of Genoa on Main Street. It has two open patios during the summer months for those of you who like the fresh air and sunshine. Rayz also comes with a very pleasant atmosphere and a friendly face when you walk in. This cafe is very welcoming and roomy. There are several tables and booths along with stools at the bar to enjoy your food or favorite beverage. Unfortunately this establishment suffered a fire loss several

years ago. However, with the help of the local people that helped raise Rayz back to what it used to be, there names are inscribed on the bricks as you come in the door. That's support that needs to be shared, folks. Hats off to you all!

Now on to the food...If you're in a hurry, then you may want to heed these words....SLOW DOWN! Take in the company around you because the chef takes extra special care when making your meals. We were the first ones in the door and were greeted by Sarah, our smiling waitress. She promptly got our drinks and our menu order. From the time we placed the order until it reached our table was exactly 30 minutes. It was pippin' hot, fresh and ooooohhhhhh so good.

Hubby ordered the enormous Comet Omelet which is, as I said, ENORMOUS! This omelet starts off with a fluffy egg shell that is filled with green peppers, onion, sausage, potato, ham, mushrooms, tomatoes and topped with melted cheese. All the flavors marry together perfectly in each bite. This omelet would feed two people being two inches thick. But, the hubby mastered all that wonderful goodness. Now he has to work it off.

I, on the other hand, ordered something out of my norm. I had the Comet Champ which was equally filling. It's traditional homefries smothered in real sausage gravy, three eggs, meat of your choice and yes...toast. With every bite you could just close your eyes and it was as if you were sitting at your own kitchen table enjoying all the wonders of a Sunday morning breakfast. The photo is half of the order because I couldn't eat all of it. I still didn't finish all of it. I gave it my all but just couldn't do it. Are you up for the challenge?

So our advice to anyone that would love to get away for a great Sunday breakfast, go to Rayz! Put your phones away, talk to each other and enjoy the fresh brewed coffee. Take your time and enjoy, not only the company but the awesome meal. Bon Appetit'!
