Mother's Day @ The Invention Restaurant
When you think of inventions what's the first thing that pops in your mind? Or should I say what is the object that pops above your head when you have an idea??? That's right...the light bulb. The one and only Thomas Edison invented our way of seeing things a little clearer. And to honor this great man, the people of Milan, Ohio have named a restaurant after the great inventor. This little town, just north of Norwalk, Ohio, exudes small town charm and prestige as it welcomes you with open arms.
The Invention Restaurant sits on the corner of Main St and State Route 113, literally in the heart of Milan, Ohio. Across the street you will find the town square and a very well kept business building called Kelly. The building houses a few business that are key to the longevity of Milan.
When we stepped into the doorway of this little diner, we were greeted with smiles from, Cheryl, our waitress and a very welcomed "Happy Mother's day!" We seated ourselves and drinks were on the table within minutes.
Let me tell you all...A good wait staff is key to repeat business in any town or city. Kudos to Cheryl! You made my day. Now on to the food.
My husband and I saw eye to eye on this weeks breakfast choice. We were both very hungry and ready for something a little out of MY ordinary. We ordered the Homerun Breakfast. Let me just say this...It was definitely a homerun for both of us.
At the plate - To start this fantastic meal we were given home made sausage gravy with fresh home made drop biscuits. The left over gravy we put on our potatoes. This, ladies and gents, did not come from a can.
On Deck - Next up we have the most delicious potatoes with everything on top. Onion's diced peppers and melted cheddar cheese are an added treat with two sausage links, two strips of perfectly cooked bacon and three eggs cooked to your liking.
As you can see these appetizing plates wouldn't last long in our presence. To accompany this wonderful meal was a hot and delicious cup of fresh brewed coffee. Now that's a home run.
No matter where you are in this little town you can always be sure that if you step into the Invention Restaurant you will be thrown back to your own childhood. The aroma of farm fresh eggs with bacon, sausage, potatoes and fresh from the oven biscuits will pull you right in and sit you in a comfy spot next to the window so you can watch as the locals gather in the square.
So if you are out and about in small town Milan, Ohio, stop in at the Invention Restaurant where the coffee is hot the people aren't afraid to strike up a conversation with you. Bon Appetit'
