Kathy's Korner
Arcadia! A small village with lots of heart and home of the Arcadia Redskins. I drive by this little (ok, it's not so little) diner every day on my way to work. I have been asked several times to review Kathy's Korner but just didn't have it on our list yet. So, today we decided to visit this Korner cafe. I know, I know....it's not Sunday. Well, we are having a party for my parents anniversary tomorrow so what better time to explore the surrounding villages.
Kathy's Korner sits on the corner of Fremont Street and State Route 12 between Fostoria, Ohio and Findlay Ohio. When you walk into this little diner you will take a walk back in time to a simpler place. You are greeted with a smile and a wave of the hand gesturing for you to have a seat and they'll be with you shortly. The
atmosphere is a little on the loud side but I chalk that up to friendly neighbors and farmers coming in to chat over coffee and a great meal. You will notice that everything on one wall is decorated with old memorabilia from the 40's including a photo of the hardware store that is directly across the street. On the opposite wall, well, lets just say someone really likes Coca Cola. See photo below. If you like Coca Cola, you'll be in heaven.
Ok ok...enough about that. On to the grub!
As you well know, my hubby loves his omelets. And today was no exception. He ordered the
deluxe omelet. This monster was chocked full of everything you would want in an omelet. Let me set the stage for ya. In the fluffy egg "shell" was a layer of golden potatoes gently browned to perfection and tender on the inside. Now imagine if you will a layer of diced ham seared on the grill and layered on top. Then, of course, lets add those veggies. Diced green peppers, onion and mushrooms. And of course, the cheese. He was savoring every bite.
I on the other hand didn't order my usual eggs benedict. I opted for the delicious breakfast bowl.
Let me TRY to put into words how this meal tasted. Close your eyes. Imagine yourself as a small child at grandma's house waking up to the aroma of sausage cooking in an iron skillet. As you walk into the kitchen you see your grandmother standing at the stove. She hands you a bowl that is filled to the rim with scrambled eggs, golden fried potatoes, sausage gravy only grandma can make, and a sprinkle of cheese on top. (see photo below) My taste buds were in overload! (Mic Drop!!!)
Now people have often stopped us to ask which diner is the best. Currently we do not have a "Best". We don't rate diners. We place them in a Top 5 of the ones that really blew us away. We encourage you all to experience the sensation of going out to breakfast with your loved ones and enjoying a meal together. You be the judge and pick your Top 5.
Kathy's Korner is definitely in our Top 5 and it will be very difficult to beat that. Here's why...The service was outstanding. The atmosphere was very welcoming, as if you were with family and (saving the best for last) the food will blow you away. So I implore you all...take this as a challenge. Go...eat...have fun and........Bon Appetit!
