Glass City Cafe
Clear blue skies, cool temps and a slight breeze! What better way to start our Sunday morning? How about a visit to the Glass City Cafe. This little cafe sits at 1107 Jefferson Street, Toldeo, Ohio. When we decided to visit this little diner we thought our son, who lives in Toledo, would like to come with us? What a treat! We don't get to visit with him as often as we should so today was special. We pulled up to this very old, rustic and charming building that had a simple signage above the door. This is right in our ball park. We were the first ones there and the door was locked. However, the windows were open enticing us with the sweet aroma of bacon and sausage cooking on the grill. Soon after we tried to open the door, someone stepped out and turned the knob and viola!
We were greeted by a gentleman that was very knowledgeable about just about everything in Toledo. A very pleasant man, he took time out of his day to make sure we had a great experience.
We took a seat in the back of the cafe and were quickly greeted by the smiling face of Abby, our waitress. She was so quick on the draw that our experience was superb. As you can see by the tables, everything is a conversation piece. From the Super Flappers of the '20's to today's Toledo Jeep! Post cards from all over
The Glass City can be found here. The decor is simple but eclectic and pulls you in as you wait for your meal to arrive pipping hot.
Okay, Okay! On to the food.
Dillon and his dad both ordered the same thing. Meat lovers Omelets. As you can see, they are fluffy and fulled with everything known to make you drool. Dillon ordered the omelet with egg whites only and rye toast and it was beautifully swirled and very tasty. While the hubby ordered a regular omelet with wheat toast. They were both hard pressed to finish their meal but they did it.
I on the other hand went outside of my comfort zone and ordered the Mini Hay Maker. OH MY GOODNESS!! It is a biscuit or english muffin topped with, hold on to your tastebuds, sausage, two eggs, bacon, home fries and smothered with sausage gravy. (You can drool anytime now!)
I wouldn't normally finish all of it but I was hungry and my stomach said Yes you can! So I was a happy girl.
