Barnstormer Restaurant

Sunshine, cool breezes, the aroma of fresh brewed coffee and conversation filled the air as we approached our destination for this weeks breakfast experience.

The Barnstormer Restaurant is not hard to find but it is a tad bit difficult to maneuver currently with the construction on the new terminal. However, If you follow the signs it will direct you to the this tiny, and we do mean tiny, little diner that is a hidden gem at the OSU Airport.

When we entered hanger #1, Home of Jack and Benny's Barnstormer Restaurant, we were hit by a wave of ice cold air. Which on a day like today, temps rising to 98 degrees, insert boy band here, was a welcomed change. We were directed to a table set for five people since there was a large family gathering on one side of the diner. We gladly took the seats. We just drove two hours and were famished. The waitress was very busy taking orders and promptly handing them to the cook. And in doing so, was quite busy. However, she did an excellent job making sure everyone's coffee or beverages were filled.

While waiting on our meal, which I will describe shortly, we took it upon ourselves to take in the photos on the walls. A good many famous people have walked through these doors at one point in time and we were honored to have shared their experience. There is an omelet named after Arnold Schwarzenegger on the menu. It is enormous!!! However, we didn't have that big of an appetite. However, we were told that he visited the diner and had a great time while there.

While we waited, there were several people waiting to be seated so I gladly asked the waitress if there were someone that wanted to share our table, we would be glad to share. She quickly walked through the doorway and brought back with her a very pleasant couple named John and Kim. We had a delightful breakfast conversing amongst ourselves sharing photos of food we've created. It was nice to meet others who share our passion for food and conversation with others. Thank you for sharing our experience.

On to the food....Sorry we did not get any photos of the food this time. We were too involved with our conversations with John and Kim. However, I can describe every tantalizing bite.

The hubby ordered The Max Meat Omelet. This omelet is stuffed to the brim with bacon, sausage and ham. Don't forget the toast and the sausage gravy on the side. This omelet is just enough to make you walk away from the table feeling just full enough.

I on the other hand ordered the Buster Omelet. I am a huge fan of ham and bacon and what better way to fit all of that yumminess into a breakfast in one bite?? An omelet. This omelet was packed with perfectly crisp bacon, sauteed ham and melted cheese and topped off with country gravy. Add the toast and it was a delicious tummy stuffer.

If you have the time and want somewhere different to go for a great dining experience and local folklore, head to the OSU Airport in Columbus, Ohio. Take in the photos on the wall and go back in time to when good food and great company go hand in hand. Bon Appetit!!
