The Big Bopper Restaurant
Gooooooooooooood Mooooorrrrrnnnniiiiiiinnnnggg!!!
Sorry....was that too loud? Well wake up and enjoy this beautiful day God has given us. On our drive this morning to beautiful Lakeside Marblehead we were blessed to have seen a glorious sunrise to welcome our presence on this planet! Rolling down the windows and letting the rain cooled air circulate inside the car made the drive that much better. This morning we dined at the Big Bopper Restaurant. As you can tell from the outside there isn't much to it. However, when you open the door you are overtaken with the aroma of fresh cracked eggs on the grill, perfectly cooked bacon and the sweet smell of fresh brewed coffee. What better way to start the day?
As you can see there is no lack of decorations in the interior to let you know you are at the beach. And there is plenty of seating for groups of people or a table for two. And if you want to watch the news, they have a big screen tv on the wall for your viewing pleasure.
Upon entering Big Boppers we were greeted by a few friendly faces that told us to have a seat and they would be with us shortly. The atmosphere was very pleasant and welcoming. Our waitress, Paige, was always happy to help us with our choices this morning. She listened to our selections and had a bright smile on her face. You get an A+ for everything. Paige went out of her way to make sure our dining experience was a great one. Ok, OK....on to the food.
Normally the hubby doesn't like chili unless it's beanless. So he inquired about one of the omelets on the menu. He was happy with the answer so he ordered none other than The Island Heat Omelet. This is a step outside of his comfort zone but he loved every bite. The egg was perfectly cooked and fluffy enough to hold beanless chili, grilled onions, and pepper jack cheese. It's normally served with jalapenos, but he can't eat them. He finished every bite and I was told, and I quote, "It's got a little kick to it without burning your face off!" End quote. And he should know. He eats a lot of hot stuff. This omelet paired with his morning coffee was perfect!
If you ever have ready this blog, y'all know I love Eggs Benedict. There is something about the flavors meshing together that brings this dish home. So today was no different. The eggs are supposed to be poached but were fried which is ok with me. An egg is an egg and as long as the yolk is runny, it's all good. The first bit of this bad boy was soon to be devoured, except....the english muffin was burnt on one side. The entire one side. No worried, I cut off what I could and ate the rest. The ham was sliced and grilled to a desired temp under those beautiful eggs. Top it off with some of the best hollendaise I have ever tasted and sliced fried red skinned potatoes and I am one happy girl! Now, I bet your asking yourself, "Why didn't she send it back to the kitchen since the muffin was burned?" Here's why...Every day we run into situations that are beyond our control. Sometimes toasters don't work the way they should. It happens even in our own households. WE are not perfect. So it got a little burned on one side. It happens. Move on.
Summer is about to be over and most of the tourists will be going home for the fall and winter. Make sure you stop by Big Boppers. Their menu is vast with a great number of different items to choose from. Even the hubby had a hard time choosing between the Island Heat Omelet or the Gyro Omelet. Obviously he got the Island Heat but what I didn't mention is that he ordered the Gyro Omelet to go. I'll give him that it was a tough decision. The only easy decision was choosing Big Boppers for breakfast. Go...Eat...Have fun at the beach. But make sure you stop by Big Boppers and grab a bite to eat. You will not be disappointed. Bon Appetit.
