Marblehead Galley

When one thinks of Marblehead the image of the famous lighthouse comes to mind. Or the festival at Lakeside where vendors set up their booths to sell their wares. Not only is Marblehead known for a great deal of things, it is also a great place to dine. My hubby chose the diner this morning and we ended up in Marblehead, Ohio. Home of the Marblehead Galley. As you can see from the outside, this eatery is equipped to handle handicapped patrons. Most places do not offer a ramp like this.

When we arrived we noticed that there was little parking to be had beside the restaurant. However, there was a lot next to it that, I'm quite sure, fills up fast. As we found out upon leaving. The interior was quite modern and fun with with a boat and, of course, lake shore motif. As you can see there is plenty of room for everyone from a couple to a group of people. They also offer tables outside and in the bar area for your dining pleasure. The wait staff was very friendly and was johnny on the spot with our drinks and food when it was done. And let me tell you, folks...it didn't take long for it to come out of the kitchen. Now that's fast.

Speaking of breakfast...The hubby decided, since we were by the lake, why not add some seafood to his omelet this morning. So he built his own omelet with sausage, shrimp, onions, and pepper jack cheese. Add a side of super crispy hash browns and home made...yes I said home made, toast and top it off with some sausage gravy on top of the omelet.

I ordered the Islander which consists of two eggs, corned beef hash and a choice of home made bread. I opted for the raisin bread and added hash browns. Now I don't normally pick apart a restaurant or diner unless it is absolutely necessary. However, today I will just point out a few "oddities". Y'all know I am a corned beef hash connoisseur and today I was presented with a circular shape of hash. I have never seen it presented in the shape that is was. However, I thought to myself...this is kind of neat. Something different. Until I took one bite and had a hard time swallowing it. There was a distinct "sour" taste to it and it wasn't very hot. Luke warm at best. The hash browns were a little crispy but we like them that way. However, they had an unusual flavor of fish. Not sure if that was from the shrimp that my hubby got in his omelet or if they fried them up together next to each other. This will be a head scratcher. The eggs were spot on medium. Just like I like them.

Now overall, the Marblehead Galley serves the community and visitors alike in a manner to where you feel welcomed and appreciated for your patronage. Now some of you might be asking yourself, will they go back to try something else on a different day. Absolutely! Everyone is entitled to an off day now and again. And we, as patrons, should understand that stuff happens. However, our next visit probably won't be for a good long while since we haven't even scratched the surface of traveling Ohio to bring you our reviews of other diners and this blog. So get out there. Go eat. Be merry and have fun doing so. Bon Appetit!
