Mundy's Diner

Growing up the daughter of a farmer, my mother always taught us that food does not come cheap and you savor every bit of it. And on those rare occasions when we did go out to eat, well, it had to be a place that knew the value of what they fed their customers and how they were treated while there. I learned a great deal of values from my upbringing and one of those was to value what you eat, how you eat and what you give back. Today we had the pleasure of being taken back to the "Good Ole Days" when we visited Mundy's diner in Springfield, Ohio. This little diner has all the charm, warmth and coziness of your own kitchen.

If you have to use the facilities, you're in for a treat. Marilyn Monroe and Elvis will be visiting you while you do your business. Don't forget that in the 50's Elvis was extremely popular and the King still lives on today in the hearts and...well, bathrooms, of all that loved him. The facilities are adequate for wheelchairs or walkers alike for everyone to enjoy the "GO".

Okay...now for the main event...THE FOOD! The hubby ordered his usual, an Omelet. However, this omelet was made to his specifications. A fluffy egg and cheese omelet with all the goodies inside...black olives, grilled onions, grilled mushrooms, ham and bacon. And when I say bacon I mean full slices of perfectly cooked bacon inside. Add the most delectable hash browns on God's green earth...yes I said it. They are heavenly. These wonderful stings of potato are browned slightly on the grill then deep fried to a golden brown. They were not hard or over done...they were a perfect blend of fluffy, light and crispy all at the same time. Add some super home made sausage gravy and some wheat toast and you have one happy hubby!

As for me, y'all know I think of myself as a corned beef hash connoisseur. I have tried a great deal of the stuff and have yet to find one that I am in love with....until now! Real diced corned beef, diced potatoes and green peppers. Corned beef hash never tasted to good until now. Add two over easy eggs on top and flawless home fries and I am in heaven. By the way, these home fries are not your average potatoes chunked and browned. No Ma'am. These puppies are deep fried to a golden brown with a light crunch on the outside a super tender on the inside. Add some whole wheat toast and yes...I was in heaven!

If you are one of those people that like to venture out to find a new place to eat then Mundy's Diner is for you. Sit back relax and enjoy the coffee that is served in a carafe and placed on your table. The wait staff is super friendly and courteous to their customers needs. Even if you are just visiting, passing through or a regular,

Tammy, the owner, will make you feel at home in this 1950's motif diner. She makes you feel welcome and has a beautiful personality. We will definitely be returning to Mundy's some day soon. Don't forget to tip your waitstaff either. Bon Appetit!!
